Saturday, July 12, 2003 - Tasted single blind at 1982 horizontal Bordeaux dinner at El Bizcocho. Bottle taken from my personal cellar. Although the light was somewhat dim, the robe is unquestionably deep garnet with a brick/orange rim. Clean nose, showing moderately intense kirsch, anise, lead pencil, mint and roasted herb aromas. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, with low acidity, melted tannins and a supple mouth feel. The evolution is quite nice, with similar flavors as for the nose. However, the finish is somewhat short for what is otherwise a stellar Pauillac. Excellent with the roasted duck (with wild mushroom fricassee, potato gnocchi and crouton "farce a gratin" in salmis sauce).
