Monday, March 5, 2018 - This is one of my favorite Gruners on the planet. Probably has to something to do with my reverence towards the winemakers, but either way this is a special bottle of juice. This vintage in particular just seems timeless -- every bottle I open has the same freshness about it. It's bound to turn downhill someday, but so far hasn't given a hint of it.
Tonight, loads of citrus -- grapefruit, lime, orange -- with a frame of granny smith apple. The body/feel is tart and energetic, but the flavor and texture of honey is woven throughout. Has a grassy/chive-y background that comes across fresh and never vegetal. Incredibly food-friendly. One of the most interesting wines from CA that I know of and worth seeking out every vintage.
