Monday, October 10, 2022 - I am a Black Kite Chardonnay fan. I think their Chard is one of the RRV's best, so I was delighted to find the same quality and sense of place in their pinot, here from Anderson Valley. Definitely cool climate Pinot with a savory, higher acidity edge to the tart cherry, cranberry, and baking spice flavors. Lovely texture on a lighter frame still lively at a surprizing 14.5 ABV. and quite dark in color. I think that a few years in the cellar will bring out the deeper forest floor aromas.
