Monday, July 11, 2022 - Those who were present at the tasting five years ago recognised the Catena Zapata White Bones Chardonnay directly. Back then, we characterised the wine as follows: "One of the participants would have liked to have had what is happening here in the nose as a "sauna infusion". That is not meant to sound disrespectful. It's just different. White Bones opens with aniseed and eucalyptus, fennel, cassis, sage and Earl Grey." And this mixture with less sauna but more cassis and mint could be clearly understood here again. Only now it all seemed much more coherent and much more elegant. The wine, whose grapes come from shell limestone deposits of the Adrianna Vineyard at 1,524 metres, had an elegant body, great acidity and lots of tension. If it wasn't so horrendously expensive, it would be a recommendation. But as it is, there is a lingering aftertaste.
