Tuesday, April 18, 2023 - The 2019 is elegant, restrained, and beautifully balanced. This vintage seems less extracted than some of the other vintages I’ve tasted. The fruit (cherry, bramble) is currently at the forefront and there is more than enough of it to counter the ripe tannins. I found the use of oak to be well-judged and not intrusive.

I expected this to be too overpowering to enjoy now but curiosity won out. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. The wine will soften, integrate further, and evolve with bottle age - there’s immense potential. I think 2019 will go down as one of the best examples of this wine for those who seek finesse over sheer power. It will be hard to resist opening another bottle (or two) while we await the wine’s peak.
