Sunday, April 30, 2023 - Pop and pour. Drunk over several nights

On day one, quite dark with stone fruit, baking chocolate and violets, but pretty closed.

Day two, large scaled nose with dark stone fruits, and more florals. This is larger but oddly the wood seems more integrated than in the Clos Nouveau in spite of its more new wood. That's similar to last year in that regard. This comes across as a well made St Emilion as much as Bourgeuil. Stony with decent lift for its size. I'm not sure if it is the vintage, but while it is impressive, I think it is less good than previous vintages. Time may turn this into something special, and I hope so, but I think i enjoy the Les Vingt more in this vintage.

Day there, there's still dark fruit, with more violets, stone fruit. Good minerality and depth and again it seems the wood is better integrated than in the Clos Nouveau. Some savory bell pepper notes starting to emerge. Impressive more than lovable.
