Sunday, September 24, 2023 - I having been drinking this annually for the last decade. I do find that the 1985 vintage was probably the most forward year of the decade, and the left bank wines were very approachable at an earlier age, and the Las Cases was no exception. This is fully mature, but the question is how long can it stay here. It still benefits from an hour or two in the decanter to blow off some of the rougher edges, but once it settles everything is integrated. Dark fruit, tobacco, graphite and cedar dominate. My only issue is with the finish which is becoming more exposed as the fuit has faded, and has become fractured. Addressing the earlier point with regards to longevity, I would be more inclined to be drinking it in the shorter term.
