Nevertheless, despite a lovely burst of fruit when first opened, it rapidly became clear that although not terminal, the wine was fading. Almost no aroma. The fruit had turned waxy and broad even though the acidity was decent. Meager finish. The texture was the best part; round and luscious. Drinkable for sure but we did not finish the bottle. Perhaps the gentle 2011 vintage was not destined to go decades.
