Saturday, November 18, 2023 - Found this in my dad’s cellar when visiting my parent’s house in Germany and convinced him to open this bottle. Stored in a (too) cold cellar for 30 years. A ton of mold underneath below the capsule. The cork almost fully soaked, yet the wine has no flaws whatsoever. An astonishing nose, a real wow factor to me here. Black currant, blackberry, bond fire smoke and celery root. Very elegant with much of the same fruit on the palate, black currant on the forefront and getting cherry here as well. Soft tannins, great balance. At peak and the fruit is still going strong. A special experience to me this 41 year old wine from a historically great vintage.
