Friday, December 15, 2023 - Run for your cellar and open this- what an incredibly delicious and somewhat sui generis Grand Cru! The nose is full of wonderful, almost- counterpoints of raspberries, violet, moist soil, and a tiny bit of bramble(see LB88 below). On the palate, the oh-so elegant Chambertin depth carries both a multiplicity of dark cherry, scented wood, rich liqeuo-like concentration, all with that element of Gevrey sauvage that both makes it less elegant than a Charmes or Griottes but also so fascinating while still regal in its own right.
