Friday, January 5, 2024 - Prior bottle was one year ago and this wine remains in a very good spot. Nose continues to show black cherry, plum, light spices and earth notes. Between medium and full bodied with black cherry upfront, showing very pretty rounded notes with some hints of brightness that strengthens through the middle. Mid-body shows plum as well as darker black cherry qualities. There's good depth as well as harmony, bordering on elegance through the middle. Backside shows lightly tart black cherry, integrated spices, earth and mineral notes as well as fine-grained tannins and acidity. Showed best once it had warmed from cellar temperature, which allowed the mid-body nuances to shine and the transition to the finish to show how positively it has evolved. Based on these consistent notes, it feels like the wine is at peak. It should be able to maintain this level for a bit of time, but worth drinking more near term in order to enjoy this wine at its current high level.
