100 Points

Monday, April 22, 2024 - This is becoming one of my favorite producers and this vintage maybe my favorite wine. Opened Friday evening and slow oxed for 24 hours, had half the bottle on Saturday and the second half Sunday. Kept at 55 the entire time but better to drink at 60. The wine is flawless, perfect balance, elegance, and harmony. Everything you expect from a great Bordeaux.

4/22/2024 11:36:00 AM - So I opened a 90 LB and a 90 Latour (2x+ the price). Suffice it to say my wife, said it’s no contest. One’s rustic and barnlike. The other (LB) is “regal”. A month later we had a tasting of 82’s Latour, Mouton and Lafite and once again the LB 82 showed at practically the same levels as wines the trade for 5x the price. It’s crazy. And every bottle I’ve opened of the 89 and the 90 are incredible. If you have any other vintages and labels at this level without being the obvious Uber expensive ones, let me know? I get so much more pleasure when the price is right!

5/4/2024 10:13:00 AM - Did you happen to taste the wine during the first 24 hrs.? The reason I ask is I'm wondering how long I should decant it prior to dinner the same day.

5/4/2024 10:19:00 AM - I would give this 4 hours in an open decanter prior to drinking.

5/4/2024 10:15:00 PM - I have not decanted it in the traditional sense. I’ve found that that opening it putting cork back in and letting it sit for a day or two does the trick. Maybe an 8 hour decant would have the same effect. Either way you need a good slow ox or a long decant for optimal results. Enjoy!

5/5/2024 7:47:00 AM - I followed djhammond's recommendation regarding a 4 hr. decant and it was perfect! Definitely a 100 point wine! I just don't see how it could get any better. That was my last 750 ml. bottle, but fortunately I have a magnum and a 3-ltr. to look forward to.
