1989 Château Talbot

Community Tasting Note

92 Points

Saturday, May 11, 2024 - There are some previous notes in the last five or six that is spot on. I bought this bottle at auction and it was a pnp slowly after a glorious bottle Jean Folliard.
This wine first sniffs like fresh tree bark mulch from Home Depot just when you first open the bag. There is enough acid to suggest this could last another decade but it’s slightly past peak imo.
The fruit still there reminds me of dried plums and English breakfast tea. There is no mistaking this wonderful Bordeaux. I’m drinking better than anyone in my neighborhood and for me that works.
