Monday, October 12, 2009 - Very dark, almost opaque. Bold, velvety on the nose with clean dark cherry fruit, plums and blackberries, bitter chocolate and some coal, a bit New World-ish, but not just a stereotypical dark fruit-bomb as it still had a nicely balancing, fresh note to it. Fullbodied, lush, very spicy, exuberantly fruity, young, with plums, pepper and cacao powder on the palate, very tannic, somewhat mineral after it calms down a bit. Dry tannic aftertaste with dark, generously spiced berries. Somewhat better next day, chocolaty and not so hot.
