89 Points

Thursday, October 22, 2009 - 2hr decant @60F. The cork on this Rotie disintegrated into myriad pieces not much larger than dust particles, utterly dried out. Color isn't full brick but it's murky raspberry red. On the nose, I pickup mulched strawberry and 100-dollar females perfume, and a wet wet, dark crypt. Light and non-affecting on the early palate; totally bereft of any sense of alcohol or heat on the finish. There's pine sap up-front, copper pennies and then red cherry on the sides. A kind of tangy sweetness takes over the finish and while it's active (~25s) it's really a nice taste and feel. A little ultra-fine structure shows with fully integrated tannins on the middle-late finish -- makes this seem meaty (ajus). Some nice complexity coexisting with this juice. It's in a zen-like place right now; not concentrated, not fruit-driven or particularly focussed, just floating in the enos ethos. Drink it before it disappears into a different plane because I think it's already fading. 89-91 points of enjoyment depending on the glass and the sip.
