Tuesday, December 22, 2009 - IN love with the portuguese red wines, Im sure if this had been a mix of more local terroir driven grapes I would have loved it even more.

color: basics signs of a syrah based wine, purple edges with a deep dark red core.

nose: nice complex and hitting you in your face nose with notes of soy sauce and dirty mushrooms, old cigarboxes your granddad had laying for 30 years without touching em, sweeeeet red candy and cedar, and covering all that with some smoked flavours.

palate: again the sweet fruit cherry and blackberry, subtle tannins for such a young wine the fruit really dominates, licorice and cassis flavours with raisins in the backend, allmost port like. 35+sec finish.

a very new world like wine but does it in a way only old world can do it, the nose alone is enough for me leaves me in a meditation like state of mind. this is real good juicy stuff but not for a burgundy or a real old world nut.

keep an open mind and decant this for 2-3 hours. . . ;)
