93 Points

Monday, December 28, 2009 - Intense sweet strawberry and spice aromas. The wine is definitely well aged at this point. Nice deep red garnet with a fringe of brownish maroon marking its aged quality. The taste is that of concentrated stewed strawberry preserves, with undertones of red currant and raspberries. Italian herb qualities come out as the wine opened up after about two hours. At about the three hour mark, exotic spice of bergamot and vetiver. A fair amount of tannins and acid, so may hold up to a bit more aging, but stands up to food quite well now. Fruit leading to herb and then a slightly dry, tannic, acidic finish with lots of spice.
