Tuesday, March 23, 2010 - 90+. Ridiculously tight upon opening, with iron clad tannins and a pronounced astringent bitterness. But really comes alive with prolonged exposure to air. Lively and grippy, almost racy, with bitter red and black fruits (currant, cranberry), bitter herbs (anise), graphite, meat, and even hints of flowers. Still not showing a lot, but was excellent with food (ribeye), and seems like there's a lot of upside potential. Question is whether there is enough fruit to ride it out. Enjoyable now, with a meal, and a long decant -- 3+ hours.
