91 Points

Tuesday, June 7, 2011 - Dinner at Yingthai Palace (Purvis Street, Singapore): From a half bottle. This was nice. Lovely nose, perfumy, very Volnay, with flowers, earth, lots of stony mineral, and some subtle roast meat and dark fruit aromas sprinkled with sweet spices. It started out a bit tight, but kept opening up all the while. Very nice on the attack on the palate as well - dark cherries, sweet spice, a very earthy, stony background opening up into plums, orange peel, and a floaty, flowery lilt in at the finish. Just a bit short on length, but this has a nice amount of 2002 substance and structure and a delicious Volnay sweetness. A charming wine with quite a bit of improvement to go.
