90 Points

Wednesday, July 6, 2011 - Opened, not decanted. Browning purple in color, with long legs. Aromas of ripe cherry, plum, and dark chocolate are distinct. The palate shows layers of brambly dark berries, juicy plum, cocoa powder, and a hint of citrus which gives the flavors a lift. Subtle white pepper flavors become apparent after two hours of following this wine in the glass. Beautifully textured, with a big mouth feel and plenty of integrated tannin and acidity to suggest more years of life remain in this terrific zinfandel.
