88 Points

Sunday, October 30, 2011 - Rim is red, moderate + depth of color. Aromatically starting to develop tertiary aromas but still mostly primary... good core of red and dark fruit that is slightly rustic, has some baking spices indicating some exposure to new French oak barrels... very minerally with an iron or rust aroma. On the palate very focused with high acidity, a moderate amount of flesh, high amount of moderate in ripeness tannins... low to moderate ETOH. Wine has good balance, good length, very good intensity and complexity. Wine has a moderate amount of finesse being a bit rustic, firmish but pleasant texture, great expression of place. Overall an "excellent" bottle of wine that has the acids and tannins as well as the depth of flavor to improve over the next 3-5 years... hold on for a bit with this.
