90 Points

Sunday, October 16, 2011 - This was one of those glasses of Champagne that we had during the intermission at the theatre - this time a dance performance by Sylvie Guillem. I was expecting swill, but this was actually surprisingly good - certainly better than the equivalent from, say, Veuve Cliquot. Nose was subtle and pleasant, with bits of white fruit and lemon, a little touch of mineral, a bit of yeast. Palate was very pelasant too. Here, bright, lemony tones melded very nicely into a creamily texture mousse on the attack. The midpalate was marked with some apple flesh, all very fresh and nicely balanced, and then a touch more yeast as the wine moved into a short, but pleasant finish. A nice little NV that actually gave quite a lot of pleasure.
