Sunday, December 11, 2011 - I love this wine and truly think it is the best Cab Franc produced outside of the Loire (and is better than too many Loire producers as well). Sure, it's done in a different style but, on a qualitative level, this wine is phenomenal. The nose if ripe and lush, showing tons of black fruit notes and a sweet and plush style but also has non-fruit notes of graphite, pencil wood, thyme, green herbs and earth. The palate is luscious and silky but is also varietally correct (call it an oxymoron but it's true!) and shows that ironclad minerality I look for in Cab Franc, with notes of freshly picked blueberries, basil, mint and tons of pleasantries. A true gem, this may be one of the best American values in the marketplace.
