Sunday, January 1, 2012 - Clean cork, branded with the grower's name, year and vineyard designation, 13.5% alcohol according to the label. Decanted and let rest for 2 hours. Pale colour. Typical pinot nose, beetroot, raspberries, sous-bois. Initial attack in the mouth is sour plums, very prominent tannins, gives way to raspberries in the mid-palate and a floral note on the finish. Really quite like a mature Barolo with the austere tannins supporting the red fruits and earthy notes. Dances across the mouth, refreshing, more'ish. Lovely stuff. Seems to be still bursting with life, no hurry with these.
