95 Points

Wednesday, November 21, 2012 - Due to some talk about this wine on another thread, I just had to pop one of these. Perhaps the longest living wine of this venerable vintage, this is still packed and stacked. Though I may still prefer the mystical flavor profile of 85 Lynch, this 85 LLC speaks of place. Wafting aromas of saddle leather, moist tobacco, damp earth, plum, cassis, graphite, and pencil - this immediately is identified as left bank Bordeaux. My fading olfactory capability prevents me from nailing it as St Julien, but younger tasters should be able to tag it. Palate is very rich and similar in taste to the nose, but I would add notes of sour cherry and a hint of tar. Completely resolved with a beautiful mouthfeel that peels away in layers, this wine exemplifies why we are all so particular to ageing and storage.
Complete winner! 95+ Pts

5/31/2013 9:04:00 AM - Agree this 85 LLC is still improving - I find the CT reviews urging people to 'drink quickly' hysterical. Frequently decant and drink bottles of this over 3-5hrs and the last sip is always the best.

However, for 85 endurance... have you tried Conseillante? If not - you must. Whatdawine! I'll bring a bottle from my cellar when next heading to Boston. @:-)
