Wednesday, December 26, 2012 - This was a lot of fun! It turned up on the shelves of my local bulk wine seller. 20 year old St Emilion! In that place! I picked it up straight away and began it on Christmas day. This is fully matured right bank Bordeaux with soft, ripe plums and tobacco and anise on the nose. Opaque and somewhat bricked in appearance, I was looking forward to the first glass a little too much and I was a little disappointed. It lacks intensity and concentration, but makes up for this by having a lot of facets to it's character. Stone fruit, strawberries and light oak character make this a wonderful accompaniment to the lamb with redcurrant sauce I drank it with. Overpriced? Probably a little. Enjoyable. Certainly
