Monday, February 11, 2013 - Not sure why I'm writing this note, given that no one else in the community owns a 1986 Bosquet des Papes. I'm doing this to trumpet the fact that commonly accepted facts about vintages like "1986 was not a strong year in CdP" aren't always indicative of the quality of a particular bottle of wine. This was a impressive, beautifully aged, CdP that seemed to have much life left in it. The fruit remained, but the signs of age enhanced the other typical CdP flavors. Needed to be decanted; sediment was on the heavy side. Wines that are cellared appropriately, even in mediocre years, can last a long time.
