Monday, February 25, 2013 - Translucent ox-blood colour. Nose of damp loam, wet hay, blackcurrant pastilles. Palate is slightly sharp but very nice middle-aged classic St. Julien…..cedar, earth, pine needles, damp cedar woods undergrowth, white mushrooms. Most of the fruit has faded. Middleweight and slightly dilute. Not much length. Pleasant Englishmen's claret but not memorable. This was a gift from a friend and judging from the badly faded label this may not have been optimally stored. Certainly disappointing compared to a bottle I drank a year ago.
