Friday, April 5, 2013 - This wine was tasted in double-blind fashion, with the bottle provided to our tasting group by D.L. It shows and opaque crimson robe, with moderately intense aromas of blackberries, vanilla and cocoa. The wine is full-bodied and fresh on the palate, with big sweet tannins and fairly well-integrated alcohol (listed as 14.6%). The flavors mirror the nose and the middle palate is intact. Unfortunately, the finish is truncated and concludes with a whiff of heat (despite opening and presenting the wine at cellar temperature, warming up to 60-65 degrees Fahrenheit while on the tasting table). This is certainly not a bad wine, but it is equally certain that this will not ever be anything special. Drink now-2017.
