Sunday, August 4, 2013 - Deep red colour.
Nose of ripe dark cherries and blackcurrants, slightly flowery with violets, hints of tar and dried herbs.
Medium body(+), rather good concentration of fruit with primarily ripe cherries, somewhat sweet and alcoholic attack, rather noticeable medium(+) tannins, a hint of bitterness, balancing acidity that provides some freshness. Rather tannic and slightly alcoholic aftertaste. 83 p.
Quite OK for a Côtes-du-Rhône at its price level. Probably the character of the 2010 vintage contributes to making the wine fresher, but I had hoped for even a little more acidity and freshness to hide the alcohol better.
