Monday, September 30, 2013 - Napa Valley Wine and Food Excursion 2013; 9/30/2013-10/5/2013 (Napa Valley, California): This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon was aged for 24 months in American oak (50% new, 50% once-used). Deep ruby and showing moderately intense aromas of wild berries, lavender, vanilla and eucalyptus, it follows with similar flavors in a round, full-bodied frame. The generous tannins are somewhat rustic, while the alcohol (listed as 13.9%) is well-integrated. Solid in the middle, it concludes with a medium-length, dry finish. Short-term cellaring will likely be helpful in softening the the tannic bite. Drink 2015-2023.
