Saturday, May 3, 2014 - On opening I noted subdued melon and citrus aromas. Flavors are primarily those of white tree fruit, and not very complex. The mouth-feel is slightly thin for a California Chardonnay, backed by bright bracing acidity. Perhaps to a fault, as the acid dominates and makes the wine slightly out of balance.
This is a fair showing from a shelf wine. TH's 'Barrel Reserve' was a seemingly short lived effort designed to be an upper tier select wine with a SRP tag of $29.00. I bought mine at $9.99. I had purchased a case of this when they were clearing out inventory, and I feel I found a very good QPR wine. For a low end price point Cali Chard, this was a great find and drank well over the course of the three years or so I held onto my 12 bottles. This is the last of that lot.
