Sunday, June 22, 2014 - 6 years ago I said I should next try in 2 years....guess I waited a little longer than expected, but in a good place if handled appropriately. From Somm stems. Right out of the bottle this seemed overly sweet; within an hour the sweetness began to tame and after 2.5 hours this was in a great place. Never decanted, so the wine can soften faster with a decant.
Bing cherry, sweet tannin, faint black pepper, and saddle leather on the nose. Medium-light weight prompts me to narrow the drinking window to 2016/2017. Will try another bottle in 6 months to gauge if its really that soft or just variation. Red cherry, cough syrup, vanilla, toasted oak with a 25 second finish thats longer than the nose would lead one to expect.
