Saturday, August 16, 2014 - After seeing some lower scores and negative reviews, I decided to open this bottle in case it was a skunk. Upon opening, I too was disappointed. The tannins were very dry and rustic while the fruit was muted. And this wine is 8 years old?? Out come the Vinturi and the decanter. Poured through both and let sit in the decanter at cellar temp for about an hour.

The became a totally different wine after that procedure. The tannins loosened and the fruit came out. Blackberry with spice. Not overly complex. The tannins are still firm overall, but this is definitely enjoyable with the right amount of air. Not sure I am too thrilled about the retail price of this wine. But it's definitely not a skunk. Drink now-2018.
