Sunday, November 2, 2014 - Good thing I decanted this. On opening, it was rather cough syrupy -- powerful and complex but blasting unfocused aroma, and cloying and hotly alcoholic on the palate. I poured all but a couple of ounces into a decanter and let it sit for 90 minutes. Then poured back into the bottle for a 30+ minute trip to restaurant. Upon reopening, the blasting bouquet had been replaced by a beautiful, harmonious one, and much of the heat on the tongue was gone. Still teeth coating/staining, but beautifully balanced from the top of the rim to the bottom. This is one luscious, hedonistic wine. Even toward the bottom of the bottle it wasn't as delicate as I'd thought it would be. If it has more finesse I would be scoring 95+. As it is, great experience.
