90 Points

Thursday, June 16, 2005 - This was poured at the WS Las Vegas Grand Tour last month. St. Urbans-Hof is a very fine QPR producer. Their wines from the Piesporter Goldtropfchen vineyard are particularly good. This estates parcel of the Goldtropfchen vineyard is known as the 'Mosel Loreley'. It is the lowest part of the vineyard and ends at a steep rocky face which falls directly into the Mosel river. It is horseshoe shaped and receives added warmth from the Sun which reflects off the river. This provides for better ripening. This wine had a creamy melon character. Notes of black currant and herbs as well. Good mineral backbone. 90 points.
