More promising on the palate, as rich texture in medium-full body jumps out. Acid balance is firm, with cranberry and earthy flavors joining. Finishes well, with drying, juicy tannins. This wine needs more time; it has lots of potential for improvement. Many of the better 2011s are like this, still tightly wound. One should acquire this wine, store it, and forget about it for a few years.
