Saturday, April 25, 2015 - A private dinner at a friend's: The 1995 is a classic, masculine and structured Barton, tannic and quite bloody, but this bottle has more soft ripe fruit and more succulence than the difficult and austere one tasted in December 2014. I think this is now fully mature, but I find it difficult to predict how time will treat this wine in the next two decades. There is not a lot of flesh, so it may go from muscular to sinewy to skeletal. But if the (recently tasted) Las Cases 1975 is anything to go by, it may also find a balance and wisdom that it did not have before.
