Community Tasting Note

Friday, January 1, 2016 - After my last experience, I knew that this needed to be opened for some time before drinking. I opened it at 8 am thinking that it would be great for New Years eve. The last 3-4 hours were in a decanter and we tried it at 7 pm. It was flat and thin with no fruit, no nose, and only some bell pepper. There was a smooth texture, but no flavor. We all thought we missed a drinking window. We tried it again just before midnight and the fruit structure just started to show - again the bright red (ripe) cherries were there again. I will keep my remaining bottles cellared for longer or if one wants to try this I would open for at lest 24 hours prior.

1/1/2016 9:21:00 AM - Great note and good advice on holding off on drinking for now. It really seems like this is a difficult Pinot to read. Almost like a Syrah or Cab that's built to age and not ready for prime-time for another 5 years or so, minimum. Definitely somewhat of an anomaly in the CA Pinot world. Thanks for the note!
