Tuesday, January 26, 2016 - The nose of this wine was quite complex (right out of the bottle). Focused notes of garden herbs (rosemary, basil, menthol, mustard seed, thyme), sun-dried tomatoes, cola, butterscotch, and a bit of game meat and blueberry pie. (Not all these aromas at the same time, the wine definitely evolved in the glass/slow ox in bottle over 2 hours.)

Intense cocoa on the back-palate. Supple but mouthfilling tannins give a really pleasant mouthfeel. Medium finish (medium-long for a Zinfandel). Only real complaint is that the heat of this wine does come through a bit, especially one the nose (not surprising at 15.25%).
