Tuesday, July 19, 2016 - This wine has held up very well. Nose of macerated fresh dark cherries, green herbal spices, a bit of vanilla and stone. Tastes of concentrated ripe berry fruit and dark cherries, bursting with sweet and tart flavors, neither jammy nor overripe. It is balanced by very smooth tannins and light minerality, producing a long dry finish with a bit of black pepper. Quite a luscious zin with no hint of oxidization (even at 8 years old). I am going to have a hard time waiting to finish the remaining half of this bottle until tomorrow. My score is at the high end of the distribution, but I think this is an exceptionally tasty zin.
