On the palate, I found angular textures compounded by tart cherry, zesty acidity and saturating wood tannin. It was long on the finish with notes of bitter cherry and cranberry fruit. I craved more freshness here and less austerity, especially in the 2012 vintage, where the fruit doesn’t appear to have the stuffing to hold up against the wood regiment.
