Wednesday, July 27, 2016 - This is pretty basic, generic Barolo, but, well, it's still Barolo, and it offers decent, if unimpressive, aromas of leather (like an old shoe), cherry, raspberry, and prune-raisin, with some vanilla and milk chocolate, as well as refreshing berry acidity on the palate. The acidity suggests an opportunity for further aging, but there just doesn't seem to be much stuffing here, and so it's probably at or near its peak. It works as an introduction to Barolo, and it does improve with significant aeration, but that's about it.
