Sunday, September 18, 2016 - Cork nearly disintegrated with extraction. Decanted 3 hours (helped open the initially reticent fruit). Darkly colored with red, some violet and brown. Dark fruit, dried leaves, tar, licorice and peppery etoh on nose. Fresh fruit on palate, but with noticeable heat; leans away from wine towards spirit. Magically matched fig stuffed with chocolate truffle as the heat disappeared into the chocolate and the fruit mingled with the fig. Also, matched well with creamy blue cheese and pear that followed. Nice to see the $14.99 sticker from when I bought this.
