Saturday, December 10, 2016 - No formal notes. Had at dinner next to a 2014 Myriad GIII and this was slightly better. Both are very rich and textured, with endless depth and concentration. The Scarlett had a bit more red fruit, was already decently integrated and was just generally outstanding. If you can hold off, it could still use some time in the bottle.

12/10/2016 3:30:00 PM - I was a little surprised myself. It was PnP at a restaurant. While obviously it can use some more time in bottle, it was actually quite accessible. I wouldn't be in any rush to pop yours, just caught it at a good moment I suppose. Very interesting having it next to the GIII of the same vintage.

12/10/2016 5:49:00 PM - Nice comparison between the two wines. I'll obviously continue to hold my Scarlett Reserves; I think that the GIII still needs time as well. After all, we are still talking about 2014s! Thanks for the info. Always appreciated!

12/11/2016 4:58:00 AM - I'm so excited to read these reviews! I'm going to try both this month. I've never had Scarlett but based on CT reviews, picked some up from ACME, also referred from CT. Thanks folks!

12/11/2016 7:50:00 AM - Now that McGah is focusing on the Scarlett label and isn't selling off as much fruit as they used to (e.g.: Bevan McGah), the Scarlett label seems to have really shown consistent quality. The 2013 is great (matching if not exceeding some of the intensity and concentration of some of the Myriad label). I'll be looking forward to your thoughts.
