Monday, January 9, 2017 - After Loek's '12 Philipp Kuhn Luitmar, this one, 59 years older, didn't loose the match. How to pack your friend? Of course with his year of birth. This '53 was quite good and Loek was very close to determine the appellation. The thought it was a St. Julien and to be honest, D-V is always a sturdy margaux. The wine showed less age than expected and mislead Loek. A very nice bouquet, of course ripe, but with fresh tones followed by a balanced, round taste, classic tannins (very acceptable), altogether quite smooth; a gentle giant at age, but absolutely not too old.
