Thursday, February 23, 2017 - Double decanted for 90 minutes, drank over next 90. At first smell/sip, I was looking forward to this bottle. But revisiting a half hour later left more to be desired. Got a feel of it being 'flat' and uninspiring. However, the last glass or so brought out the potential in this wine.
By then end, this wine was exhibiting a great nose, full mid palate, and a nicely balanced tannic finish.
The more I drink the random 2011, I am realizing that these wines, especially the mountain appellations, need much longer in the decanter to truly open up.
This wine is a solid 91, and could benefit from another year or two in bottle, but the shelf life is probably 5 years or less to maximize for all it's worth. Drink 2018-2022
