87 Points

Monday, April 17, 2017 - The number does not reflect how interesting this wine is. Decanted 1 hr. ahead. Medium garnet color with a touch of yellow at the edges. Very nice nose of white pepper, floral, meat, and black cherry. On the palate, metallic flavors override many of the positive aromatics. It blew off after awhile, but it was there. Medium-bodied and smooth, with rich flavors. Finishes fast with licorice notes and some alcoholic heat. This wine is an adventurous blend with a lot to recommend it, though it definitely needs air. It also over-performs its lower-twenties price point.
