Sunday, July 5, 2015 - Pale yellow color. Rich, autolytic and quite dark-toned nose with aromas of ripe citrus fruits, toasted bread, bruised apple, some browned butter and a hint of ginger. Rich, medium-bodied and dry on the palate with high acidity. Complex and surprisingly crisp flavors of lemony citrus fruits, chalky minerality, toasty autolysis, browned butter, brioche, some earthy spice and a hint of cream. Somewhat crisp and refreshing mousse with fine, small bubbles. Quite long and complex finish with flavors of chalky minerality, lemony citrus fruits, freen apples, some autolytic nuttiness, a hint of browned butter and a touch of nougat.

A very impressive, autolytic and rather brooding Vintage Champ with a lot of emphasis on those darker-toned Pinot characteristics. Very toasty style, yet with a lot of emphasis on the structure and brightness, so the wine doesn't come off as heavy or ponderous, only weighty. Good stuff that shows some aging potential, but doesn't actually feel like it would require any more age as it is quite nutty and toasty already. Very nice and enjoyable, was worth the 14,5€ for a glass.
