Tuesday, March 11, 2008 - Tasting Group Dinner - Vieux Telegraphe (Dave's House): A bottle that Brad bought at auction. I've never had a white wine like this before. Deep amber color. Very complex, and somewhat odd nose: apricots, overripe cantaloupes, Dijon mustard, and a stinky sour milk/cheese character that never completely blew off. The palate is soft and still lively, and even in its advanced state, shows steely minerality that is unmistakably Chevalier-Montrachet. This was strange and over-the-hill, yet also fascinating and captivating. Thanks Brad for sharing this!
